Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has delivered a message to Liverpool ahead of the Champions League final. With Liverpool preparing to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday, Gerrard delivered a message to the club’s supporters on social media. Sitting in the Stade de France while Jurgen Klopp’s side were undergoing their preparations,
Steven Gerrard said: “Hello everyone, I’m just here in Paris for the final. The players are all training in the background, preparing. Game day, minus one. You can feel the atmosphere building. I’d like to wish everyone at Liverpool the best of luck and I hope they get the outcome that everyone wants. Getting excited for the game and the fans are building up nicely outside the stadium. Hopefully it will be a fantastic game and I predict a 2-0 Liverpool win.”
Having famously won the Champions League with Liverpool in dramatic fashion, few Villa fans will begrudge Gerrard wishing his former club well in France, especially after the club’s decisive actions in the transfer window. The Villa boss will be hoping to bring European nights back to Villa Park in the near future and has outlined the club’s approach to recruitment this summer. After confirming the signing of Kamara,
Steven Gerrard said: “Again, straight away we’ve moved swiftly, we’ve moved quietly to try and get another big player in the door. To do that on day one of the off-season is a massive step. Now it’s time to push and move forward for the next piece of the jigsaw.”
