Leicester City’s head of recruitment Lee Congerton will leave with Brendan Rodgers’ best wishes as he nears a switch to Italian side Atalanta. Congerton, a long-time colleague of the City boss, moved down with him from Celtic to take over from Eduardo Macia as the man in charge of the club’s transfers. But now he is set to depart, with Rodgers confirming that a move is “in the pipeline”.
Brendan Rodgers said: “There’s a possibility for Lee to go, and like I’ve always thought for any of my staff members, if there’s a possibility for them to improve the conditions of their life, and go into a better position, then of course I’m supportive of that. He’s a close friend of mine, for a number of years, we’ve worked at a number of clubs together, but this may be an opportunity for him, a fantastic opportunity at a great club, so we’ll have to see how that evolves over the next few days. That’s definitely in the pipeline.”
The pair first worked together at Chelsea, when Rodgers was manager of the club’s reserve side. They then linked up again at Celtic before switching to the King Power Stadium.
