#PLStories – #MikelArteta thinks Tottenham have an unfair advantage against Arsenal due to changes in fixture dates #ArsenalFC #THFC #NorthLondonDerby

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Thursday, March 4. Arteta makes Spurs admission Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that Spurs will have a slight boost ahead of the North London derby due to Uefa's decision to reverse the date of their Europa League home and away ties against Dinamo Zagreb. The decision means that Spurs will have the added bonus of not having to make a 4,000 mile round trip during midweek before the derby against Arsenal, and Arteta says it does give Jose Mourinho's side an advantage. "It does," he said when asked if it gives Spurs an edge. "But unfortunately we're not going to change that. We can raise our voices and we should do that, because we want to have at least two teams that are in equal conditions. "But the decision has been made and that's it. I don't want to use one bit of an excuse going towards that game saying 'ah they have an advantage'. "So, no probably I will use that to take it into our hands." Read the full story here. The Gunners are one of several clubs across Europe interested in signing the 21-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window. Having offloaded Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis in January, the report states that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could lose several more central defenders in the summer amid talk of David Luiz, Calum Chambers, and Dinos Mavropanos all leaving. Therefore, it would appear he wants to sign Konate in order to increase his options that could include Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari, and William Saliba at the start of next season. And the chances of Konate leaving RB Leipzig in the summer seem pretty high after the club's CEO Oliver Mintzlaff revealed in January that their future transfer business hinges on further player sales. One replacement that has been linked is Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, but there is already an option at the Gunners who could save them millions should they decide not to go for the 21-year-old. Folarin Balogun is still going through contract negotiations with the club, but a new deal for the young striker would be far cheaper than splashing out the reported £21.5million Celtic are searching for to part ways with Edouard. There are reports that Balogun's wage demands are in the region of £40,000 per week, which is very high for a player who is still yet to start a senior game in his career. There is little to suggest any validity to these exorbitant claims football.london understands, but if Arsenal were seen to be offering these sorts of wages to young players then future Hale End graduates would be within their rights to demand similar salaries in contract negotiations going forward. But Arteta admits that keeping young stars is something the club need to be doing to keep traditions alive. "[Edu has] been spending a lot of time and energy to try and make that deal happen because it’s important for us to keep our talent in the house," he said.
Adama Traore

#PLStories- #PepGuardiola singles out ‘incredible’ #PedroNeto & #AdamaTraore #MCFC #WOLVESFC

Pep Guardiola has praised his Manchester City team for preventing Wolverhampton Wanderers from running riot at The Etihad last night. Conor Coady scored Wolves’ only shot on target to tie the game at 1-1 just past the hour mark and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side briefly threatened another upset in the five minutes that followed. Pedro Neto and Adama Traore came to life, with the latter having two further shots at Ederson’s goal without success. City eventually regained control of the clash and netted three goals in the final 10 minutes through Gabriel Jesus (2) and Riyad Mahrez to seal a 4-1 victory. In the first half they played 5-4-1 with two players on the sides - (Nelson) Semedo and Neto - who didn’t jump. In the second half they jumped more so we found the players in the positions and created clear chances. “After 1-1 we were a little bit shocked but if you analyse five minutes Wolves were good, OK. But if you analyse 95 minutes, except seven or eight minutes, we were better. “We were better and I know how tough it is against Wolves. Wolves are one of the toughest opponents we’ve faced in three or four years because they are so good at doing what they do. “That’s why we were patient. They look for you to lose patience and punish you. You cannot afford to lose patience against that team.” Read More Related Articles Read More Related Articles Guardiola’s team were punished twice last season as Wolves completed the double with 2-0 and 3-2 successes. But City have got to grips with Wolves this campaign and extended their remarkable winning streak to 21 matches across all competitions last night. They are so different. Neto is an incredible player and Adama as well. #PLStories- #GarethSouthgate praises #EmileSmithRowe and other Arsenal youngsters ahead of Euro 2020 #ArsenalFC

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Tuesday, March 2. England boss Southgate praises Saka and Smith Rowe Gareth Southgate has praised two Arsenal youngsters in Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka ahead of this summer's Euro 2020. "‘Emile Smith Rowe getting his opportunity at Arsenal," Southgate told talkSPORT. "We know those kids are there and we know the talent is there, but when the buying and spending power of the clubs is greater than anything around Europe, and the pressure is on to have immediate success, it is easier to go and buy the finished product from abroad. "There was always this blockage for young English players, now they’re getting their chance. Adams undecided on Odegaard Arsenal legend Tony Adams believes the 'jury is out' on Real Madrid loan star Martin Odegaard. The Gunners signed Odegaard on loan until the end of the season towards the end of the January transfer window with Mikel Arteta short of creativity in the first half of the campaign. Odegaard was introduced teasingly, but he has started two of Arsenal's last three and he also came on in the first half as Arsenal beat Leicester City 3-1 away from home on Sunday. The Norwegian midfielder's influence has been felt with quick, smart passes aplenty, but former Arsenal defender Adams is still unsure whether Odegaard is suited to the Premier League. “The Premier League is a bit special with respect that Odegaard has come into this league,” he told Stadium Astro. Odegaard came off the bench in the first half against Leicester City (Image: David Price/Arsenal FC via Getty Images) “Some people respond to it and can do it, some people can’t. “If you get them in on loan and go ‘let’s have a look if he can do it or not, if he can play in this league’. “I think the jury’s out. I think he’s a super player, very talented. But is the Premier League for him? Not too sure about that.” Read More Related Articles Read More Related Articles Duo make team of the week Two Arsenal players have made a Team of the Week after the weekend's win over Leicester City. His movement across the face of the six-yard box was excellent and matched only by his header - Arsenal's equaliser. Speaking about Willian's contribution, Crooks added: "To be out of the team for such long periods and to come back into the Arsenal side and perform so well against an in-form Leicester, and away from home, was impressive. "Willian has struggled since his arrival at Emirates Stadium, although he made my team of the week after an impressive debut against Fulham in the opening game of the season."
Nuno Espirito Santo

#PLStories- #NunoEspiritoSanto reacts to Wolves defeat and issues warning to Man City #WOLVESFC

Nuno Espirito Santo was left frustrated by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ inability to see out the game at Manchester City. Wolves were all set to claim a point at The Etihad after Conor Coady tied the match in the 61st minute - but City struck three times in the final 10 minutes to claim a 4-1 victory. “It’s a tough result because we competed well for parts of the game,” said Nuno. “In the first half we weren’t too much of a threat, but defensively we were organised. We know how difficult it is to recover possession of the ball here. “We were better in the second half. We achieved the draw and the momentum of the team is there, but we were not able to sustain it. We were punished really hard in the last moments of the game. “The game-plan is always good, but you are always facing another game-plan.
