#PLStories- Brighton boss Graham Potter supports LGBTQ+ community campaign – Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces #BHAFC

Graham Potter says he hopes a Premier League player ‘comes out’ out as gay. The Albion head coach believes the game has made progress in terms of increased inclusivity across the board. He has backed Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, which encourages people to speak up on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community. Albion’s match at home to Leeds is their designated Rainbow Laces fixture. Potter said of the campaign: “It’s vital, as a game, we should welcome everybody regardless of who they love. “It’s a fantastic initiative and it’s something football needs to carry on working with because we have to carry on being welcoming for all. “It’s an issue we speak about a lot regardless of sexuality, the colour of skin, religion, it should be a game for everyone. “I am pleased that football is taking a step, there’s things we could do better.” He added: “It’s educational, conversation, honesty, openness around the things that challenge people. “The more that gets out in the open the better.” Potter was asked whether a Premier League player would come out at some point. He replied: “I hope so because that’s a part of the challenge. “We’ve taken some steps but not enough. “Historically and culturally it’s a very masculine, heterosexual environment. “Thankfully the world is changing and people feel freer to be who they are regardless of their sexuality, but it’s not easy. “We’ve had some stories recently where people have taken those steps. “Not in this country but I believe there was a story in Australia. BRIGHTON'S ROBERT SANCHEZ READY TO BOUNCE BACK “A big congratulations to him, the more conversations, initiatives like this, the greater the chance of that happening.”
Ralph Hasenhuttl

#PLStories- Ralph Hasenhuttl feels he was ‘misunderstood’ over FA charge #SAINTSFC

SAINTS manager Ralph Hasenhuttl feels he may have been “misunderstood” after being charged by the Football Association over his comments about video assistant referee Mike Dean. Hasenhuttl was unhappy following the dismissal of captain James Ward-Prowse during Saints' 3-1 defeat to Chelsea earlier this month. Midfielder Ward-Prowse was initially shown a yellow card by referee Martin Atkinson for a late tackle on Jorginho at Stamford Bridge, but it was upgraded to red after Dean told his colleague to review the incident on the pitchside monitor. Hasenhuttl was charged on Thursday and has until Tuesday to respond. Asked if he plans to appeal the charge, Hasenhuttl said: "We have a personal hearing next week. "Maybe they misunderstood me, or the media misunderstood me. We will talk about that. "What can I say? In general I am a manager that is very respectful to the referees all the time. "The way I wanted to argue about it was not a negative way, because we accept the red card. "We did not decline the red card. I was not speaking bad about Mike Dean. But let us discuss this internally and then we will see." Ward-Prowse’s red card came in the 77th minute of the match on October 2, with the score at 1-1, before Chelsea scored twice against 10 men to seal victory. An FA statement read: “It is alleged that comments made by the manager during two post-match interviews constitute improper conduct in that they questioned the integrity of the VAR match official and/or implied bias and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

#PLStories- Ralph Hasenhuttl charged by FA for post-Chelsea comments #SAINTSFC

RALPH Hasenhuttl has been charged by the FA for comments he made in relation to Mike Dean and the Chelsea contest at Stamford Bridge. The FA statement reads: “Southampton FC’s Ralph Hasenhuttl has been charged with two breaches FA Rule E3 in relation to their Premier League match against Chelsea FC on Saturday 2 October 2021. “It is alleged that comments made by the manager during two post-match interviews constitute improper conduct in that they questioned the integrity of the VAR match official and/or implied bias and/or bring the game into disrepute. “Ralph Hasenhuttl has until Tuesday 19 October 2021 to respond to the charges.” It is thought the comments in question were said in jest by the Saints boss, who said: “You know that when Mike Dean is the VAR, he will send him to have a look at it (the monitor), and then it was okay from me, I think. He gave it." He added: “But this is his job, I don’t want to say it is his fault because I haven’t seen it so far." The comments in question were regarding James Ward-Prowse’s red card, which was initially given as a yellow by the on-field official before VAR recommended a second look. With the scores level at 1-1, Chelsea went on to take advantage of the extra man and took a 3-1 victory. It is unclear how Hasenhuttl will respond to the FA charge at this time.
Yves Bissouma

#PLStories- Brighton’s #YvesBissouma believes he is the best midfielder in the Premier League #BHAFC

Brighton's Yves Bissouma believes he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. The 25-year-old is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Albion and an intergral part of their midfield. That has seen him miss just two of their last 42 Prem games with one of those being due to suspension. Bissouma made his 100th appearances for the Seagulls and his 90th appearance in the top flight on Saturday in their 1-0 win over Brentford. But in an interview with BBC Football Focus, which was conducted by his former Albion teammate and club legend Glenn Murray, Bissouma believes he is the best midfielder in the Prem. He said: "I don't want to be arrogant, but it's me because in my head I am working to be the best. "So I cannot say another name, I know in the Premier League there are so many good midfielder, but for me, it's me because that gives me the confidence and the energy to work hard to show people I am here and I am Bissouma. "I just want to be focus on football to play in every game, every week to be good, to help my team win and the rest we will see."
Ralph Hasenhuttl

#PLStories- #RalphHasenhuttl explains argument between himself and referee during West Ham clash #SAINTSFC

MANAGER Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed how he saw both sides to an argument between him and referee David Coote during Saints’ 0-0 draw with West Ham. The game’s big talking point at St Mary’s came in second-half stoppage time when Irons’ frontman Michail Antonio was sent off for a second booking, following a foul on Moussa Djenepo. Hasenhuttl was left frustrated that referee Coote did not play advantage following the incident, in which the hosts had the chance to counter for the winner. The Austrian boss picked up a booking from man-in-the-middle Coote for his reaction to the decision. Asked post-match whether he felt play should have been allowed to carry on, Hasenhuttl replied: “At first I said yes. “Now I must say, if we lose the ball and he (Antonio) stays on the pitch and he scores a goal – then I sit here and say ‘well why don’t you send him off and stop the game eh?’. “There are always two sides you can see. “I spoke with the referee. He gave me a yellow card because I was very emotional. Absolutely, okay. “In this moment, you think ‘ah this is the chance now to kill them’ and he stopped the game. I can understand his argument, he understands my argument – this is how football should be.” The stalemate means Saints are still looking for their first league win of the campaign, with three points coming from their opening four games. The south coast side make the trip to Manchester City in the top flight on Saturday.
