#PLStories- Thomas Tuchel unhappy with consecutive fixtures for Chelsea #CHELSEAFC

Thomas Tuchel says Albion have been handed a “huge” advantage - after complaining about a Tuesday night trip to the Amex. The Chelsea boss delivered a series of moans about scheduling and injury risk after his side drew with the Seagulls almost three weeks ago. This time he has argued the sides should meet on Wednesday rather than Tuesday. He believes Albion are helped by the fact they played on Friday evening and his own team were in action on Saturday lunchtime, when they lost 1-0 at Manchester City. Tomorrow’s match was shifted from February 8, when Chelsea will be at the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi. Chelsea and Albion do not play until Sunday this coming weekend, something which has not gone un-noticed in West London. Tuchel said: “It is very hard to understand. It’s nothing to do with City, but there are three away games in a row. WHY GRAHAM POTTER IS SO HAPPY AT BRIGHTON "Both Brighton and we have our next game on Sunday, so there was no need to have it on a Tuesday. “Actually, Brighton played on Friday so it makes a huge difference (in their favour) also. We have the schedule that we have.

#PLStories- Chelsea boss fumes with referees after being denied penalty against Brighton #CHELSEAFC #BHAFC

CHELSEA manager Thomas Tuchel has hit out at referee Mike Dean for denying Chelsea a “100 per cent penalty” and also a possible goal for Mason Mount against Albion. Tuchel felt Christian Pulisic was definitely fouled in the box after a challenge from Albion defender Joel Veltman in the second half, while Mount rolled the ball into the empty net only to see play brought back for a foul on the Dutchman. He told media after the game: “We have a 100 per cent penalty against Christian Pulisic, a 50-50 challenge from Mason Mount right before their equaliser. Antonio Rudiger was lucky not to be given a red card “Why does he even need to whistle before the ball is over the line? We have VAR to check. Is he so sure or does he want to keep the tension up? “And the penalty, it’s a joke, honestly it’s a joke not to intervene from VAR.” Albion proved full value for their draw amid a madcap encounter, with ex-Arsenal striker Welbeck popping up with the leveller with just his seventh touch having climbed off the bench. Albion manager Graham Potter did not think that Chelsea should have had a penalty. He said: “I’d have to see it back, live I didn’t think it was. I guess that’s why they’ve got VAR. “If it was 100 per cent I think it would be given, I didn’t think it was at the time but I was quite a way away to be honest.” However, Albion were equally denied by the referee as Antonio Rudiger arguably could have seen red for a two-footed challenge on Tariq Lamptey. There was also an elbow from Romelu Lukaku on Neal Maupay which left him with a visibly swore nose in the build-up to the Chelsea goal.
Danny Welbeck

#PLStories- Danny Welbeck happy after late goal earned Brighton point at Chelsea #BHAFC

ALBION striker Danny Welbeck has admitted he is happy to be back with a bang after his last gasp goal against Chelsea. The Seagulls looked set to be beaten by the Blues at Stamford Bridge but Welbeck's 90th-minute header earned Graham Potter's side a valuable point. Despite going behind in the first-half Albion were giving a good account of themselves and improved in the second half and were rewarded for their good work with Welbeck's goal. Welbeck said: "We know the ability in ourselves and we could have produced a bit more in the first half from the chances we created. Brighton and Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck heads in the equaliser against Chelsea "Obviously in the second half, we kept going and got the goal in the end." The striker is only recently back from injury and is happy to be the one to get the goal that earned Albion the point. Welbeck said: "It is nice to get a goal late on that means something for the team and it has been a while since I have been out on the pitch so it is nice to get back and get back amongst the goals. The striker and his teammates will now prepare for the next match against Everton on News Year's Day and will have plenty of confidence after picking up four points from their last two games. Welbeck said: "There are a lot of positives, we got three points against Brentford and another one tonight and it gives us a good base to go into the game against Everton. "It is one we are looking forward to."

#PLStories- Thomas Tuchel concerned about players health ahead of clash against Brighton #CHELSEAFC #BHAFC

Thomas Tuchel says he is “super concerned” for the health of his Chelsea players as they plan to face Albion. The Blues boss conceded after a 3-1 win at Aston Villa yesterday he does not know the repercussions of pressing the likes of goalscorer Romelu Lukaku and Hudson-Odoi back into service just days after completing coronavirus isolation will be. “Romelu had a very good performance today, but it’s not fair and he’s not ready for that,” Tuchel told Sky Sports. “We have all been in bed for two weeks with the flu but we did not play two days later at Villa Park. So we don’t know what comes from that. “I am very impressed with my players but super concerned. “We let Callum Hudson-Odoi play for 90 minutes because we needed to change other players. Who decides that? “And maybe we made a big mistake here letting players play after corona and one or two training sessions. “But obviously they (the Premier League) made us play and so we play. “And we play one or two more cup games, and we play against teams who prepare with games postponed, and who prepare with one week for these matches. BRIGHTON TO MAKE LATE CALL ON LEANDRO TROSSARD AT CHELSEA “OK, so it’s like it is – but this cannot be the right way. “People at the green table and people in offices take these decisions. This is how it is.”
Armando Broja

#PLStories- Armando Broja likes it here at Saints says Ralph, after he wins crucial foul #SAINTSFC

ARMANDO Broja’s super speed won Saints a “clear foul” insists Ralph Hasenhuttl, who adds that the on-loan forward “likes it here with us”. The Albanian international was again pivotal for his loanee club as Saints picked up a 3-2 win at West Ham’s London Stadium. As well as winning the penalty that James Ward-Prowse slotted home to give his side the lead for a second time, Broja is a general menace and currently shares the joint-top place with his skipper for Saints’ top league goalscorer this campaign. The 20-year-old has four goals in seven starts and his strikes alone have earned Saints five points that could be crucial. Supporters are already committing football’s cardinal sin – falling in love with a loan player – but Hasenhuttl insists that Broja loves playing his football with the St Mary’s outfit at the moment. “Yes, I think it was a clear foul,” Hasenhuttl said, of Craig Dawson’s trip on Broja in the second-half. “If it was inside or outside (the box) I cannot see from my perspective. “But it was a clear foul because he’s gone, he can score or assist. He’s quick, Broja is super-quick. “They had problems with him in the first game and this is the reason why I think that it is good that the referee looked at it again on the VAR decision.” And asked how important Hasenhuttl considers the Chelsea prospect to be to his team, he told the Daily Echo: “Very important, yeah absolutely. “He gets better and better. Likes it here with us, likes to play with us, feels comfortable here and is willing to learn to work hard, and this is what we do.”
