Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca praises contribution of Enzo Fernandez after international break

Enzo Maresca was reflecting on the performance of Enzo Fernandez during a press conference after the match where Fernandez scored and he praised the player’s contributions despite having just returned from international duty.

Enzo Maresca said “Enzo did really well today. He is doing very well since we started. The same as I said many times for Joao Felix, the problem is it depends on the game-plan; we use different kind of players.”

Enzo Maresca continued to elaborate on Enzo Fernandez’s positioning during a game, which allowed him to score by being inside the box, emphasizing that arriving in the box is crucial for attacking midfielders.

Enzo Maresca said “Today I thought was the right game to use Enzo even if he was back from international duty [late]. I think he did very well. I’m trying to convince Enzo in the same way as I did last year with Ndidi and Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] that attacking midfielders need to arrive in the box.”
