Pep Guardiola has admitted that Sergio Aguero could still have a big role to play in next week’s Champions League final after his two-goal farewell to the Etihad Stadium. Aguero signed off in the best possible way for Manchester City with a brace on his last appearance for the Blues at the Etihad Stadium, after going on as a sub with half an hour left – and he was mighty close to yet another Premier League hat-trick. When Guardiola was asked if Aguero still might have an important part to play against Chelsea,
Pep Guardiola said: “Yeah of course, we have five subs, of course, he has a special feeling. Something special. Of course he will be ready if we need him to help us to win the Champions League.”
Guardiola had shed a tear or two during TV interviews when asked to talk about Aguero, and he said that the only other times he had been so emotional at saying goodbye had been during his time at Barcelona
Pep Guardiola said: “Some of them in Barcelona – Sergio has helped to bring this club to the level we have, a special person. A fairytale moment, a perfect end. We had good moments, Sergio was asked yesterday how he felt, how he wanted to play and he said last 30 minutes. He needs just 30 minutes to score goals, yeah it’s perfect. Why I should I add something else? He’s shown the last decade, it’s great, fantastic, he has this gift that mum or dad or god gave him. Always he will have it. A humble guy, a good guy, incredible good goals, to finish in a good mood and now we have five or six days to prepare.”
