Nelson Semedo Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers have achieved a remarkable feat by securing their sixth consecutive top-flight win, a record they last matched in October 1970. This impressive run was sealed with goals from Matheus Cunha, Jorgen Strand Larsen, and a late strike from Rodrigo Gomes, propelling Wolves to a comfortable position in the Premier League standings. As Nottingham Forest battles for a Champions League spot this season, Wolves are inspired to follow a similar path.
Nelson Semedo said: “Nottingham Forest are doing really well and are one of the examples, they are fighting for the Champions League places. Why can’t we do that as well? We just have to make sure that we do the things well, do the right things to make sure that we put the club in the level where we want it to be. We didn’t start the way you want to start, but at the end with this quality and with the ambition that these guys have, it’s easier to get to the point that you start to win and we started to win because the quality has always been there. Now we have the team spirit as well.”
Semedo added: “We trust in the work we’ve been doing since Vitor’s arrival. We were in a tough position and we had to dig in, we had to battle and to fight a lot to be in the position that we are today, and now things are going well I think we have the luck on our side as well. We are confident. With time, obviously, we developed the way that Vitor likes to play and now we’re doing it perfectly, like we showed today.”
Wolves’ recent success is attributed to the strategic changes implemented by manager Vitor Pereira, who took over from Gary O’Neil when the team was struggling. Under Pereira’s leadership, Wolves have climbed 23 points clear of their rivals, showcasing a remarkable turnaround since the start of the year. The transformation has been marked by a renewed sense of confidence and unity within the squad, as highlighted by Semedo.
The club’s current form has instilled a belief that they can compete for European spots, drawing inspiration from Nottingham Forest’s impressive campaign. Semedo’s comments reflect a growing ambition within the team to elevate Wolves to new heights in the Premier League.
As Wolves continue their pursuit of success, the focus remains on maintaining their winning momentum and capitalizing on the quality and ambition present within the squad. The journey ahead promises to be challenging, but with the right mindset and determination, Wolves aim to make a significant impact in the league.
