Alex Scott
Bournemouth’s Alex Scott expressed his frustration following a dramatic draw against Manchester United. The Cherries appeared to be in control for much of the match, leading at halftime thanks to an Antoine Semenyo goal. However, the game took a turn when striker Evanilson received a red card for a challenge on Noussair Mazraoui in the 70th minute. Despite a valiant defensive effort, Bournemouth conceded a late equalizer to Rasmus Hojlund in stoppage time.
Alex Scott said: “We worked so hard throughout the whole game and we played really well, especially in the first half. It’s tough against a team like Man United who obviously haven’t had the best this season, but they’re still Man United. It’s a bit of a dagger for them to get that goal at the end, but a lot of positives and we’ve really got to finish strong now in our remaining games.”
Scott added: “We gave everything in that game and maybe we didn’t create enough chances. I think that’s something we’ve lacked a little bit recently. But no, it was tough and we worked so hard to get the three points. And you can see nine minutes added on, which I don’t know where nine minutes came from, but it’s one of them. You’ve got to take it on the chin.”
He continued: “But I think he slipped and I think it’s harsh to give a red for that. But we’re not going to focus too much on that. We’ve got to focus on ourselves and how we played. And like I said before, it’s tough to take that in the last second.”
Bournemouth currently sits in tenth place, just one point behind Fulham and Brighton, who occupy eighth and ninth positions respectively. With eighth place potentially securing a spot in European competition, the Cherries are determined to push for a strong finish. Both Fulham and Brighton secured dramatic late victories on Saturday, further complicating Bournemouth’s aspirations.
Scott’s comments reflect a broader sentiment within the team, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and resilience in the remaining fixtures. Despite the setback, there is a clear determination to achieve European qualification, with
Scott stating, “It’ll be a shame to let it slip like that in the remaining games. So we’re going to give our all and hopefully we can get Europe.”
