#PremierLeagueStories – #PedroNeto compares teammate #DanielPodence to #EdenHazard #WWFC

Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence have been the two stars of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ faltering season. Neto, 20, has stepped out of Diogo Jota’s shadow and become one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s most reliable players. The former Braga and Lazio winger has started 16 of Wolves’ 17 Premier League games this term and has four goals and three assists to his name - already a marginal improvement on his output last season. Podence was made to wait patiently for his chances after joining Wolves from Olympiakos last January but, like his compatriot Neto, he’s become a mainstay in the team. Both have received their first senior call-ups to the Portuguese national team too and made their debuts towards the end of 2020. While Neto and Podence are equally important to Wolves, they are vastly different characters. Neto is calm and composed, whereas Podence wears his heart on his sleeve. The diminutive attacker has shown his frustration with opponents and referees on numerous occasions this season, both on and off the field. "I call Podence a mini-Hazard, because he has characteristics similar to his,” he told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. “He always seems to be upset, but it's just his way of being." The high point of both Neto and Podence’s season came against Chelsea at Molineux just before Christmas. Wolves fell behind to Olivier Giroud’s goal before their two Portuguese aces turned the game around. Podence, via a jinking run and a devastating finish, levelled the match midway through the second half before Neto went on a lung-busting run and won it in the fifth minute of stoppage time. It was something natural, the result of the longing for the fans. I didn't even think twice, it was just a moment of pure happiness.”
Raul Jimenez Wolves

#PremierLeagueStories – #AlexTelles sends message of support to injured Wolves star #RaulJimenez #WWFC #MUFC

Manchester United full-back Alex Telles has sent his support to Wolves striker Raul Jimenez after his head injury vs Arsenal. The Wolves man suffered a fractured skull in the 2-1 victory over the Gunners last month. He returned home over the weekend after undergoing surgery at a local hospital. Telles himself suffered a similar injury during his time playing in Brazil and still bears the scars from the depressed fracture. Jimenez is now recovering at home and is set for a spell on the sidelines before making his return for Wolves, although a timeframe hasn’t been put on the striker’s return. He will definitely recover and, thank God, it wasn't so serious and he will be able to get back playing as soon as possible, doing what he loves the most. Us players have to have this solidarity and I wish him well and that he gets better soon.” Wolves captain Conor Coady has revealed that the squad has been able to talk to Jimenez via Zoom . "We are now hoping and praying that he is healthy and going to be OK."
David Luiz

#PremierLeagueStories – #DaniCeballos opens up about training ground bust up with #DavidLuiz #AFC

Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos believes that his training ground scuffle with David Luiz shows that the team has character. Reports earlier this month claimed Ceballos and Luiz had an altercation on Arsenal's training pitch at London Colney which resulted in the Spaniard coming off with a cut on his nose. Ceballos previously described the reports as “FAKE” on Twitter, but he has now admitted that the incident did happen. "I'm not going to say that there wasn't a clash or a scuffle," Ceballos told The Sun. "It was not an exemplary behaviour but it is good to see Arsenal is alive, that the team has character. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel "We are two footballers with very similar leadership qualities and these things can happen. "We didn’t let a single day go by. We spoke that same afternoon after training. Now we have to learn so it does not happen again." According to the original report from The Athletic, the incident took place during the international break earlier in November. When Mikel Arteta blew the final whistle on a training match, Luiz confronted Ceballos over a challenge the midfielder had made and struck him on the nose, with a scratch drawing blood. Ceballos fell to the floor before getting up to retaliate, prompting teammates to break the players up. Commenting on the incident previously, Arteta seemed more annoyed that it had been leaked to the media than that it had occurred in the first place. "I don't like the fact that that incident comes out at all," he said, as reported by The Mirror.
