Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old enjoyed a fruitful 2020/21 campaign with West Brom last term, having previously had loan stints with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City in the 2019/20 season. Gallagher couldn’t hide his excitement at joining the Frenchman’s team ahead of the 2021/21 Premier League season, admitting that he enjoyed positive talks with the former Nice boss.
Conor Gallagher said: “I’m buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started, I’m happy to get the deal over the line. I spoke to the manager, I liked what he said, I liked how he wants to play, how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play. I feel like I can learn from him and the players around me.”
Furthermore, Palace chairman Steve Parish also spoke of his happiness after the youngster decided to make the move to South London.
Steve Parish said: “I am delighted Conor has chosen to come to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan after some impressive performances in the Premier League last season. We very much look forward to him joining the squad as we continue to build towards the new season.”
Despite West Brom’s relegation last term, Gallagher enjoyed a productive season with the Baggies, registering an impressive 2.92 tackles, 2.24 blocks and 1.35 successful dribbles per game.
