Willian Chelsea

#PLStory- #Willian has decided to stay in Europe when he leaves Arsenal #ArsenalFC

Willian has revealed that he would like to remain in Europe when he ends up leaving Arsenal. The 32-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer last summer after his contract at London rivals Chelsea expired and enjoyed an impressive debut, recording multiple assists in a 3-0 win over Fulham on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season. However, the Brazilian has not been able to build on that showing, registering just two assists across all competitions since and is still awaiting his first goal in Arsenal colours. With that said, he was hailed as a 'gamechanger' by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta during Thursday evening's Europa League comeback win over Benfica. But what are the attacking midfielder's plans for when he does leave Arsenal? Well, a return to Brazil has been ruled out as Willian has already decided he wants to remain in Europe and hasn't closed the door on playing in the United States before retiring. "Look, I always say that sometimes we make plans but sometimes the plans change," Willian told UOL, as per Sport Witness. "Today, in my head, I don’t have this objective. I have neither the desire nor the objective to play in Brazil. "I intend to stay in Europe, anyway. Leaving Europe, going to another market. United States, I don’t know, another market. But we make plans, sometimes things can change. "So today I reply to you that I don’t have this thought of playing in Brazil again." "It was difficult to make that decision, it wasn’t easy. Because, as you said, the rivalry between the two clubs is very big. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Chelsea for Arsenal," Willian added. "It was well thought out, a thoughtful decision, talking to my wife and even the agent many times. They convinced me to go there that it’d be a really cool project, that it’d be really good for me to be able to go there. "That I’d be a very important player in the squad. That they wanted to change the philosophy of the club, to make it possible for Arsenal to fight again in the Premier League, to play in the Champions League again. But it really wasn’t easy to make that decision, it had to be well thought out. "Look, I think some fans asked this question. But the majority understood because I didn’t leave the club with a fight, I left the doors open. "Everyone knew the conditions, I really wanted to stay. We ended up not finding an agreement, I ended up asking for three years, Chelsea wanted to give two, and everyone knows this story. That’s why I ended up leaving."

#PL Stories- #NunoEspiritoSanto gives new contract update for #RaulJimenez #WolvesFC

Jonny pens new contract Jonny Castro Otto has become the latest Wolverhampton Wanderers star to commit his future to the club. The Spanish full-back, who only returned to action last weekend following a six-month injury lay-off, has agreed fresh terms on a deal which runs until June 2025. It’s a move which shows a fair amount of loyalty from both sides. Wolves have nursed Jonny back to full fitness and the defender has repaid their patience by putting pen to paper. The club has also shown faith in Jonny’s ability to overcome a serious injury by agreeing to pay him improved terms before he had even made his comeback. Jonny’s performance against Leicester City proves Wolves’ faith was well placed and the defender can now focus on helping his teammates finish the campaign strongly. Nuno’s new contract, which was announced on the eve of the season opener at Sheffield United, has been followed by a series of renewals from key players. Raul Jimenez, Conor Coady, Max Kilman, Leander Dendoncker and the ever-improving Pedro Neto all penned extensions before Jonny. Wolves are still working to reach an agreement with Adama Traore and sources suggest that conversations have taken place about Ruben Neves’ situation too. Traore and Neves still have two years to run on their existing deals so there’s no great rush. The Mexican striker hasn’t kicked a ball since suffering a sickening fractured skull injury in the victory over Arsenal at The Emirates on November 29. After undergoing surgery at a hospital in London on the night, Jimenez returned home to his family the following week. He’s since restarted training in the gym at Wolves’ training ground and has been running on the treadmill. No comeback date has been pencilled in for Jimenez but Nuno recently revealed that he believes the striker could even return before the end of this season. “We are truly positive that this can happen,” said Nuno ”It’s very good news that he keeps improving day by day. “Not only me, but all the medical staff (are positive) because he is improving on all the tests that we did previously, two seasons ago. He’s doing really well.” The boss has now revealed that Jimenez has attended another consultation with medics and the results have delighted Wolves. “He’s doing good,” Nuno said in his latest update on Jimenez. “He had a consultation and the results are amazing. “Gradually he will progress, but it’s too soon to predict the exact moment. He’s working by himself but with a good intensity in his training sessions. We are really positive and delighted.” Wolves transfer news, rumours and analysis free to your inbox There's a quick and easy way to stay on top of all the Wolverhampton Wanderers news with our daily newsletter. French left-back Ait-Nouri sustained a hip injury against Chelsea last month and he's missed Wolves' last three games as a result. He has now returned to training though and could start the FA Cup game if Nuno Espirito Santo decides to rest Jonny Castro Otto for this weekend's Premier League fixture with the Saints. When asked about the fitness of Ait-Nouri and fellow left-sided defender Marcal, Nuno said: "They are getting better. Rayan is available again for tomorrow. Marcal not yet." Marcal has, however, rejoined the rest of the squad at Compton Park this week, as per the club's latest training ground shots, and should be available again in the coming weeks. Full injury news HERE
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

#PLStories – #DarrenBent believes #PierreEmerickAubameyang is dropping off in performance after Arsenal renewed his contract #ArsenalFC

Darren Bent has questioned whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lost his intensity since signing a new three-year contract at Arsenal. The Gunners captain has continually proved his worth to the club since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2018. Aubameyang netted 22 goals in the Premier League last season, including twice in the FA Cup final win over Chelsea. But there were fears that Arsenal would have to sell their star player with his contract running down, but the striker committed his long-term future to the club by penning a new three-year contract worth in the region of £250,000-a-week - a whopping £36million over the duration of his deal. Since then, however, Aubameyang has only netted once this season - in the opening day victory over Fulham and there have been fears that the striker's performances levels have dropped off. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Speaking on talkSPORT, former Tottenham and Charlton striker Bent said he is just as worried about the player's performances in general since penning the new deal as he is about his lack of goals. "It's not the fact he hasn't scored a goal, it's the performances," Bent said. "Before he signed his contract he was absolutely everywhere - running back, tracking back, putting tackles in, breaking forward. Read More Related Articles Read More Related Articles "There was a real hunger and intensity to his game. "At the minute, you can see there's been a massive drop off. I don't know if it's coincided with the new contract, but you can tell that he's not playing with the same intensity that he had before. "When you focus so much on getting a new deal like Aubameyang did, you'll run that extra yard and make that extra effort. The 31-year-old will have two opportunities to get back on the scoresheet this week when Arsenal take on Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday. The Gunners then welcome Leicester City to the Emirates in the Premier League on Sunday, where Mikel Arteta's side will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat to Manchester City.
