Cole Palmer is confident he can take his first-team chance at Manchester City after signing a new five-year deal at the club. Palmer has trained regularly with Pep Guardiola’s senior squad over the last 12 months and has appearances in the Carabao Cup and Champions League to his name after a breakthrough year. The Blues have tied him to a new contract with the intention of keeping him in Manchester for next season and beyond. As well as being elated to commit his future to the club, the 19-year-old playmaker is looking forward to being able to show his value in the squad.

Cole Palmer said: “It is a very proud moment. It is a dream come true. I think my family are thrilled too. Obviously when I used to go to the park with them to play football when I was little we used to always think of moments like this, so we are very happy. When I first came over to the first team in June [2020] it was a bit overwhelming, but I just came over with no pressure and just to play. I am still here so I think I have done alright! I have progressed pretty well because you are training with the best players every day, so you are only going to get better. There is a lot more to come. Hopefully, I will just get my chance this year and I will take it if I get it, confidently. The first-team players speak to you a lot. They give you bits of advice and tips, so it helps a lot. I have never really set targets, I just come and play and see what happens. I think Manchester City is the best place for me to be, so hopefully, I can make an impact.”
