Irish International and Nottingham Forest star Roy Keane suggested that he was a moving target for everyone and the criticism he got was over the top but admitted that he was helpless in doing anything about it. His statement came in the same week when his national skipper Andy Townsend suggested that Keane needed better protection by his club and country managers.
Roy Keane said “I shy away from talking about the headlines as much as I can. That’s the way the world is. I realize I’m a target. I’m up there to be shot at and there’s not much I can do about it. So I shy away when I can. Sometimes coming to Ireland is even more difficult, Nottingham is the place for me to be. It’s a big town and I can get lost there. Plus people who do recognize me will be forest fans and they leave me alone.”
