Pep Guardiola believes Phil Foden will “get what he deserves” after his outstanding performance in Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final triumph. Foden played well in the match and is being touted as the natural heir to the outgoing Spanish maestro David Silva.

Pep Guardiola said “I want the best [for him], He will get what he deserves. I am delighted with his performance and his behaviour in good and bad moments. He just has to think work and work and it always pays off. I have played a final with Phil because I see him every day. Every time we decide to let him play, always he plays good, at a high level. Last season he played when we played Tottenham [in April, scoring the winner] in the Premier League after being knocked out of the Champions League by them. People said in pre-season when Leroy Sané got injured that we may have to go the transfer market and I said: ‘No, because Phil can play in the middle or wide’. I learned in the big clubs I was at before about their history that when they win a trophy they go and take a shower and are thinking in that moment about the next one.”

The City manager has often been criticised for not giving enough game time for Phil Foden, who has been long touted as the best youth player in the country. Despite the huge praise that Guardiola has showered upon Foden he has only started ten matches so far this season. Comparisons are often made with Manchester City’s cross-town rivals Manchester United who have long had a tradition of bringing through first team players from the academy and even this season likes of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams have been regular first team starters for them.

Angelino has made an RB Leipzig transfer admission after Man City UEFA ban. Manchester City defender Angelino is currently on loan at RB Leipzig until the end of the season. And he has admitted that the result of the ban could be a huge factor in him seeking a permanent move away from the Etihad. But he also said at the same time that even though he did not understand Pep’s methods back at City, he realises now that he has made him a better player.

Angelino said “I feel very comfortable in Leipzig. I have to focus on RB, Of course [the ban will affect my future], this hits every club and every player hard. In the past six months when I worked with him, I didn’t immediately understand where and how he improved me, Now when I watch videos of how I behave on the pitch for Leipzig, I see how he has made me better. I react much faster in situations and often have the best solution ready. I can’t explain that at all, I do it automatically.”

The left-back is on loan at RB Leipzig, where he is impressing in Julian Nagelsmann’s title-challenging side. The club has a €30m option to purchase Angelino permanently in the summer.

Manchester City has agreed on a deal with the Brazilian Club Coritiba for the signing of Yan Couto on a five-year deal. The full-back was on the radar of several clubs due to his contract with Coritiba expiring at the end of the season.

Manchester City said “Manchester City are delighted to announce Yan Couto will be joining the Club this summer. The 17-year-old Brazilian, who currently plays for Serie A side Coritiba FC, has agreed a five-year deal. The teenager has already won 13 caps for his country at Under-17 level and was part of the Brazil team that won the Under-17s World Cup last November – a tournament where he created more chances than any other defender. Everyone at the Club looks forward to welcoming Yan in the summer.”

This is the fifth signing for a teenager from the South American market for the club since Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the club. The club has signed Gabriel Jesus, Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno and Benjamin Garre so far in the last four years from South America.

Pep Guardiola has predicted no team will match Manchester City’s domestic dominance after lifting the sixth major trophy of his reign on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola said “‘I think it is remarkable, to win eight of the last nine titles (including the Community Shield) and it will be so difficult for anyone to do it again – not just us, but our opponents, It means consistency. When you remember and review it, you know this group of players are so special. It’s about showing that we are there in every game. That is the best thing we can give to a club. I think it is important that everybody knows that we have a responsibility to win titles. Sergio has won 13 titles here, that is amazing. The legacy of the new striker will be compared to that high level and that is good.”

Guardiola had insisted his squad still had the hunger and desire to continue succeeding despite falling behind Liverpool in the title race.
