Leicester City has announced their 2018/19 financial year results and they have reported a pre-tax loss of £20.2 million despite their revenues increasing overall. The club has said that development of their new training facility at Charnwood and planning and designing of the expansion of the King Power Stadium has been the main factors for the loss reported on the books.

Chief Executive Susan Whelan said “Ten years on from King Power’s takeover in 2010, Leicester City finds itself in a position of strength from which we can all move securely forward with confidence and ambition. During that time, the Club’s supporters have put their faith in King Power’s long-term investment strategy and we aim to continue rewarding that faith with progress, growth and success both on and off the pitch. We remain a Club of fierce ambition: striving to progress every season; giving ourselves every opportunity to compete more consistently at the elite level of the game; giving amazing experiences to our fans in the stadium and around the world; and making our community proud of its football club. It’s the reason every penny of revenue generated during those 10 years under King Power’s ownership has been reinvested into the Club.”

Next year’s results are likely to turn back into healthy profits as their sale of Harry Maguire to Manchester United in a world-record deal for a defender worth £80 million would be on the books for the next financial results.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers sees Wednesday’s fifth-round tie against Birmingham City as an opportunity to progress in the Emirates FA Cup but warned of the Blues’ quality.

Brendan Rodgers said “If we were coming into this next game in the very best form that we’ve been in this season, this was always going to be a tough game for us, You have a Championship team playing against a Premier League team and also a very good team, a team that are better away from home, and they’ve got some very good players. I think whenever this game came along, then it was always going to be a tough game for us. So, for us, it’s another opportunity. We haven’t been as consistent in the last seven games or so as what we would have liked, however this period of the season now is really about that unity of everyone, in terms of on the field.”

The manager also confirmed that Jamie Vardy is once again going to miss out on the match but that will be the chance for the other players to step up in their main striker’s absence.

Huge progress has been made at Leicester City’s training ground as they bid to complete the build before the start of pre-season. The club has released further pictures and video of the training ground under construction and released more details of the state of the art facilities that the training centre will have. The development includes an indoor training centre, Twelve full-size football pitches, Six part-size size grass pitches, Two goalkeeper areas, the main building, which will hydrotherapy, medical, rehabilitation, dining and education facilities, as well as offices and 30 bedrooms for players and management and UK’s first turf academy to train groundsmen.

Chief Executive Susan Whelan said “The new training ground will elevate the club and our training facilities to another level for generations to come, so it’s fantastic  to have our contractors from McLaren on-site, commencing work and turning our vision into reality.Such a big investment is both a fantastic opportunity and a big responsibility for everyone involved in the project. We’re delighted to be shaping a big part of the club’s future together and determined to make it something the region can be exceptionally proud of.”

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight with the return of Wilfred Ndidi from injury. The Nigerian international missed the Foxes’ previous three games against Wigan Athletic, West Ham United and Aston Villa after struggling to overcome a knee injury he suffered in January.

Brendan Rodgers said “The great news for us was Wilf coming back and getting game time, Apart from that, Daniel Amartey has been out for a period of time, but everyone else is okay.”

Ndidi has been a consistent performer for the King Power Stadium outfit before the injury problem, featuring in 27 games across all competitions.
