It took less than 12 months for Salah to smash a Premier League record as he recorded the most goals (31) in a 38-game season. Adding to his three Player of the Month awards, the PFA Player of the Season award, and Liverpool’s Player of the Year award in his maiden campaign at Anfield. And even in the summer months, having already carved himself an Anfield legacy, there is no time for Salah to slack as Pep Lijnders’ diary entry perfectly encapsulates the mindset of the 29-year-old.
Pep Lijnders recalled: “I also heard a story that Mo and Harvey Elliott were sitting with each other in the dining area. Harvey had some bread and some fruit on his plate and Mo asked him how many slices of bread he’d already had that day. Harvey said one and Mo told him to only eat the fruit! Harvey told me, ‘I’m always learning from these guys!’ We have so many players who are helping the younger players and the new ones – you feel all the way through this camp that the talents are integrating, and I like that a lot.”
Once again, Salah will be ready for action when the new campaign kicks off. And the Premier League and Europe had better watch out.
