Arsenal star striker Ian Wright was set to undergo an operation for a hernia which meant that he would be sidelined for the remainder of that season. Even though the club was maintaining that they were trying everything to manage the problem and an operation was last resort but it looked like that the England striker would be out for at least a couple of months and would miss England’s world cup qualifiers against Turkey and Holland as well.
Club doctor John Crane said “We have been closely watching Ian’s condition since the problem first started up a month ago and it has become quite chronic. We’ll assess him again on Saturday and then see the options available. But as of now, it looks like that the surgery is inevitable.”
