Francisco Trincao cannot wait to link up with friend and compatriot Pedro Neto after completing his loan move to Wolves. The winger has joined Bruno Lage’s new-look Molineux outfit after completing a season-long loan move from Catalan giants Barcelona, and he is intent on hitting the ground running in the Premier League, which he views as one of the best – if not the best – leagues in the world. Trincao is also looking forward to reuniting with Wolves favourite Neto, who has taken to English football like a duck to water. The pair played together previously at Braga, and get on with each other away the football pitch and on it.
Francisco Trincao said: “I’m really excited. I want to thank him for the words that he said the last day to me. I’m really excited to play with him too and to play with everyone, all my friends, and to get to know them, because I know the Portuguese players, but the other ones no. I just think to win every game possible, to play as much as possible, to score goals, assist and to give them good memories of me. [The fans can] get excited to see me and to see the team, the new coach, because he’s really good too, so enjoy. I usually say that I want to give them a reason to buy the ticket. To enjoy the game, to score goals, to assist and to win.”
Neto himself is in rehabilitation currently as he looks to overcome the serious knee injury he sustained towards the end of last season; the youngster wasn’t seen again after the win at Fulham in April, and was ruled out of the Euros – which he probably would have been called up by Portugal for. It’s estimated that Wolves fans can expect to see him return at some stage towards the end of 2021, but in the meantime he was able to give more of an idea of what the same supporters will be getting from Wolves bringing Trincao to the West Midlands.
Pedro Neto said: “I met Trincao in Vianense, in our city. We’ve been friends for a long time. I also played with him at Braga. He is a great friend and I hope to see him soon. I believe that Trincao will help us a lot with the quality he has. I like to play with him. I’m looking forward to seeing him because he’s a very good person and a good player. He has a very good vision of the game and is strong in one against one. He’s an exciting player to watch.”
