After having picked up six points in the last 10 premier league matches and without winning any of the last 12, the patience ran out for Chelsea board and they sacked their manager Ian Porterfield. He was told that his £100000 per year services were no longer needed and David Webb was appointed as an interim manager till the end of the season.
Chelsea chairman said “We have reviewed the results and the fact is we lost as many as we have won over the last two seasons. That’s not keeping in line with our aspirations and we have dispensed with the services of Ian Porterfield”
