Manchester United’s Denis Irwin hinted that Nottingham Forest’s Roy Keane deserves the same kind of protection from his manager that his teammate Ryan Giggs from Alex Ferguson. Keane and Giggs were two of the hottest properties in English football at the time but the pressures seemed to be weighing more on Keane then on Giggs.
Denis Irwin said “People may ask why Ryan Giggs doesn’t succumb to the same kind of pressure, but the key is that a lot of other players at United can take the pressure off him. May be Roy also needs the same, he needs more protection from the media to keep him focused.”
