Manchester United had lost out on the championship in a cruel and heartbreaking manner in 1991 but managed to turn things around to win their first title in three decades a year later. Their manager Alex Ferguson revealed in an interview about how he advised his players to deal with the disappointments and setbacks on and off the pitch. And how he was getting his squad to go again and try to win back to back premier leagues.
Sir Alex Ferguson said “I told them that, in life, everyone has to learn to overcome disappointment. We have had our fair share of setbacks at this club and I asked them to remember how we lost the league two seasons ago. I told them to look forward, to recognize what they can achieve this season. It was a challenge to their spirits. They proved that in the three years most of them have been together, they have created something special. No one wanted to let the others down.”
