Liverpool travels to Tottenham Hotspur this evening as the Reds look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Klopp’s men are without a win in the league since their 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last month and will be desperate to rekindle some sort of form at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Speaking prior to the Premier League clash, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho believes Liverpool can still defend their title this season.
Jose Mourinho said “When you win once you know you have the team to win it twice. When you win it you know you are the best team and Liverpool was not just about winning, it was about winning so comfortably. Would anyone expect Liverpool to have a similar run to last season when winning, winning and winning non-stop? I would not expect that as what they did was so difficult. And to win it the second time, in the same way, is even more difficult. But to win the title again I think they believe they can and I believe that is what they really want.”
Mourinho also spoke about Virgil van Dijk, who has been out with a serious knee injury he suffered in October against Everton.
Jose Mourinho said “You cannot make miracles. You have to compensate with what you have and Liverpool, when you speak about Van Dijk, you cannot replace him,” the Spurs boss said. “There are some players you cannot replace. Like when Harry Kane was injured. You cannot replace Harry Kane.“You cannot replace Van Dijk. You can only replace Van Dijk with Van Dijk when Van Dijk is back.”
