Conspicuous by his absence, Allardyce was asked post-match as to Grosicki’s whereabouts. He confirmed that he’d already rejected to exit earlier this month, but that he was being permitted to take his leave before Monday night’s deadline.
Sam Allardyce said “He could have gone to Nottingham Forest but he refused. He has already been told if the right opportunity comes up for him he can leave because that obviously puts more funds in the pot to bring more players in before the deadline.”
Attracting players in Albion’s situation is especially difficult, and that situation hasn’t been improved by the drubbing that City dished out at The Hawthorns. Surely that can’t exactly work in the Baggies’ favour at such a crucial point in the window?
Sam Allardyce said “Getting players in the position we are in is a difficult one because you have to find someone with the quality you need and who wants to join the fight. That makes it a difficult task to get the player you need. Will the Man City result make it more difficult? If they were watching, maybe, but we certainly need to get to the end of this window having improved the team with at least two new players.”
