Joe Kinnear was looking for a cause of a double celebration if Wimbledon could spoil Aston Villa’s cup party. South London’s “Crazy gang” Wimbledon was known as football’s reputation wreckers. They had stunned everyone by winning the 1988 FA Cup over Liverpool, in 1992 they had already beaten Manchester United, Liverpool (twice), Everton and Arsenal.
Joe Kinnear said “The FA cup is our only real chance of success so we won’t let it go lightly. We are unbeaten this year and all the lads are determined to keep that way.”
