Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence have been the two stars of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ faltering season. Neto, 20, has stepped out of Diogo Jota’s shadow and become one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s most reliable players. The former Braga and Lazio winger has started 16 of Wolves’ 17 Premier League games this term and has four goals and three assists to his name – already a marginal improvement on his output last season. Podence was made to wait patiently for his chances after joining Wolves from Olympiakos last January but, like his compatriot Neto, he’s become a mainstay in the team. The diminutive attacker has shown his frustration with opponents and referees on numerous occasions this season, both on and off the field. And Neto, asked about Podence’s tantrums, has explained that it’s just part of his teammate’s make-up.
Pedro Neto said “I call Podence a mini-Hazard, because he has characteristics similar to his, He always seems to be upset, but it’s just his way of being We have no fans at the stadium and I miss them, At that moment I saw the way that man was celebrating, I felt his joy and I went to hug him, I feel that in a way I made him even happier. It was something natural, the result of the longing for the fans. I didn’t even think twice, it was just a moment of pure happiness.”
