Trevor Francis was a substitute when Sheffield Wednesday crashed out of the FA Cup with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Cambridge two seasons earlier. And when Mick Heathcote gave Cambridge an unlikely lead, all the nightmares and horrors of that loss came haunting back for Francis. But his side managed to recover and beat their opponents 2-1 to finally secure a fourth-round spot.

Trevor Francis said “It was the worst day in my time at Hillsborough. I didn’t think it could happen again because we are creating so many chances these days. In fact, I was surprised we had gone a goal down.”
