Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba believes he has benefited from playing for France across their three November internationals. Pogba played for 57 minutes in France’s surprising home defeat by Finland before starting in the Nations League wins over Portugal and Sweden ahead of his return to Manchester. The 27-year-old has endured a poor start to the season and was dropped by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the 6-1 trouncing by Tottenham last month. Pogba could start on the bench again for the Saturday night visit of West Brom after the performances of midfield trio Scott McTominay, Fred and Bruno Fernandes in the 3-1 win over Everton two weeks ago.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said “Paul’s had a difficult season last season, He’s had COVID now. Those three games he played for France helped us and Paul and helped France. He gets his rhythm, he gets his fitness. I spoke to Paul and he certainly felt towards the end of the Portugal match and definitely towards the end of the Sweden game he felt stronger for it, he played well, they qualified, of course. I think he’s only going to improve. Paul is, as I’ve said, a very important player and a very important person for us and to have him in form and happy is going to be vital for the run that we can hopefully put together now.”
