Graham Taylor’s world cup warm-up plans were in danger of being thrown into chaos if several premier league bosses go ahead with their threat to boycott England’s summer tour of America. Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool were all unhappy with the June 5-19 tour dates and were prepared to withdraw their players to allow them a much-needed summer holiday.
