As the year came to a close and Eric Cantona’s flashing brilliance in the red shirt of Manchester United since his transfer from Leeds served to remind everyone that it was probably the biggest mistake of that year. Allowing enigmatic French star leave Elland Road was probably the costliest move that Howard Wilkinson had made according to John O’ shea. Leeds were since then looking more like a relegation-threatened team whereas Manchester United was competing for the title again.
