Chelsea skipper Andy Townsend felt that his side was in the pole position to take the maximum advantage of the busy Christmas period and could be the best performing team from the chasing pack of the premier league table. The hectic 10 day period for the West London outfit would begin with a Stamford bridge six-pointer against Manchester United followed by struggling Southampton’s visit before travelling to South London to face relegation fodder Wimbledon. Townsend said “Looking at the way it’s going to fall over the next few days, we are in a position to try and get a perfect nine points. As Norwich have two home games and one away, it looks like what we need to so we can get at 1993 with them firmly in our side.”
