Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest concluded their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the City Ground, under the guidance of manager Vitor Pereira. The match saw Morgan Gibbs-White open the scoring for Forest, only for Marcus Tavernier to equalize for Bournemouth in the second half. Despite the draw, Pereira expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and hinted at future plans, while also addressing speculation surrounding midfielder Elliot Anderson’s future.
Vitor Pereira said: “I don’t have the answer. If you ask me if he deserves the best clubs in the world, he deserves. He has a lot of quality. He is a talent. But he is our player and I am very happy with him. The market is the market, I cannot predict the market. I know we want to keep the same players, to bring two or three players to help us balance the squad. In the end, we’ll see.”
Pereira’s comments highlight the uncertainty surrounding Anderson, who has attracted interest from top clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United. While Forest is keen to retain the England international, the club acknowledges the challenge of holding onto such a sought-after talent.
Vitor Pereira further stated: “It is an honour, it is a privilege to be the manager. This is a group with strong character. Today was difficult, we faced a strong team and the weather is impossible. In the end one point is a pity because if we win we can get to another position in the table. In the end I think the result is fine.”
Reflecting on the season, Pereira emphasized the importance of a strong start and the need for adequate pre-season preparation. He acknowledged the challenges faced due to a tight relegation battle, which included teams like Tottenham, West Ham, and Leeds, but expressed pride in the team’s achievements and the support from fans.
Vitor Pereira added: “This season was very very tight in terms of the battle of relegation. Teams like Tottenham, West Ham, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, this season was very tough. To be safe two games before the end of the season, the last two games are very difficult in my experience. In the end, I am proud. We are proud of our work, of our supporters. I believe that next season we can go and do good things.”
Pereira’s remarks underscore his commitment to building a stronger squad for the upcoming season, with hopes of achieving greater success. As Forest look ahead, the focus will be on retaining key players like Anderson and enhancing the squad to compete more effectively in the Premier League.
