Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, has been making strides at Aston Villa, despite an initial struggle to find his footing under manager Unai Emery. However, a recent shoulder injury sustained during a friendly against Elche has sidelined him for approximately three weeks. Prior to this setback, Sancho shared insights into his journey at the club and the support he has received from his teammates and manager.
Jadon Sancho said: “It’s my team-mates and my manager that have been giving me that confidence and belief. My team-mates have been very good to me. I feel like I can do more because I know myself. But apart from that, I’m just happy that the team is doing well, and we’re in a good position.”
Sancho’s comments underscore the positive environment at Aston Villa, highlighting the role of team dynamics and leadership in his adaptation. He specifically praised the influence of club captain John McGinn.
Jadon Sancho continued: “Obviously when you have a captain like John McGinn, you already know the vibes. John has been great with me since day one, so big shout out to John for that. He’s such a great guy, he’s a nice guy on and off the pitch. When he’s on the pitch, he’s working very hard and off the pitch, he’s just a normal regular guy. Some people wouldn’t look at him as a captain, but when he’s on the pitch, you can tell why he’s the captain of Aston Villa and how he helps the team a lot.”
Sancho also shared his thoughts on working under Unai Emery, emphasizing the manager’s demanding nature and the structured approach to improving both individual and team performance.
Jadon Sancho remarked: “I think he’s very demanding of all of his players. He gives you a job to do, and you also work with his team around him to help your game and improve the team. As players, we just take that on board, we take that into games and what we can achieve together as a team when we perfect that plan is just perfect.”
Despite his injury, Sancho remains focused on his development and the importance of statistics in assessing performance, particularly for attacking players.
Jadon Sancho added: “I feel that stats are very important, especially for attacking players. It does help your confidence, but it’s also not just about stats, it’s about the feeling in how you play.”
Sancho’s reflections highlight the significant role of team support and leadership in his ongoing adaptation at Aston Villa. His acknowledgment of John McGinn’s leadership and Unai Emery’s managerial style suggests a harmonious blend of individual and collective growth at the club. As Sancho recovers from his injury, the focus remains on his continued contribution to Aston Villa’s promising campaign.
