While Bale’s arrival at Spurs was the headline transfer of the weekend, Spurs also signed young Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid. Reguilon, who impressed on loan at Sevilla, will take the number three shirt and is expected to slide into the starting XI along the left side throughout the season. The 23-year-old also spoke to the media upon his arrival and said joining such a big club under a world-class manager in a city like London was something he did not want to miss out on.
Sergio Reguilon said “I am very happy to be here, I want to work with my team-mates, see the city and only work for football. I really like the philosophy of the club and the manager, those were the things that made me want to come here; the desire to grow, the vision of the club, and I’m eager to grow as a player. Tottenham has world class players and a world class manager. I can’t wait to start working with him on my first day. I saw the training facilities, they’re incredible. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to be so big, beautiful and pristine and I can’t wait to start training there with all my team-mates. I’ve only played the Europa League once, and I was lucky enough to win it. It’s a great competition which we want to win. With the team we have we need to aim to be among the first places and to win trophies.”
