Mason Mount Chelsea
Manchester United secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their latest Premier League clash on Monday. Despite Wolves leveling the score at halftime through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, United capitalized on opportunities in the second half, with goals from Mason Mount, Bryan Mbeumo, and a Bruno Fernandes penalty sealing the win. This performance marked a significant turnaround for Wolves, who had not scored in their previous five games, but they were unable to maintain momentum against a dominant United side.
Ruben Amorim said: “He can defend, he can attack, is really the quality that when he touched the ball is really good. So it’s not a surprise for me, but of course, we need to take care of him. Sometimes you need to protect them in training in games, but when you build, that is going to happen the same, the same thing with Luke Shaw. So he’s going to build that and it’s going to be really important for our club.”
Amorim continued: “He’s a different type of leader. It’s not like Licha, for example. It’s a guy that leads by the example. It doesn’t matter the situation. Mason Mount is always the same thing, training, talking, dealing with people around Carrington. That is not easy. So he’s a very, very good player.”
Amorim explained: “Sometimes it’s the tactical issue. When you play a striker and sometimes Cunha is going to that position or sometimes it’s also we need to protect Mason Mount.”
Ruben Amorim’s comments highlighted the multifaceted abilities of Mason Mount, who has been instrumental in United’s recent performances. Amorim praised Mount’s capacity to both defend and attack, emphasizing the quality he brings to the team. He also noted Mount’s leadership style, which differs from others by setting an example through his consistent behavior and interactions at Carrington, United’s training ground.
Amorim’s insights into Mount’s game time revealed a tactical approach, where Mount’s participation is sometimes adjusted to accommodate other players or to protect him from potential injuries. This strategic rotation underscores the importance of Mount’s role in the team and the need to manage his workload effectively.
Overall, Manchester United’s victory against Wolves not only showcased their attacking prowess but also highlighted the significant contributions of Mason Mount, as acknowledged by Ruben Amorim. The win further solidifies United’s position in the league, with Mount’s performance being a key factor in their continued success.
