Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United secured a crucial victory against Wolves at Molineux, with Bruno Fernandes playing a pivotal role in the win. The Portuguese midfielder scored twice and provided an assist, helping the Reds claim all three points and move into the Premier League’s top six. Fernandes opened the scoring in the 25th minute, converting a pass from Matheus Cunha. Although Wolves equalized through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in first-half stoppage time, United’s dominance in the second half ensured their victory. Bryan Mbeumo restored United’s lead in the 51st minute, assisted by Diogo Dalot.
James Maddison said: “Well Bruno was at the heart of everything. Bruno’s just such a top player. I actually think Bruno’s… he actually doesn’t have a massive part in [the second] goal, he still has the ball in the build-up. But the other goals as well. I think he’s actually probably underrated to many, Bruno. And I know he gets a lot of plaudits anyway but I think he is kind of underrated, like, for the quality that he shows consistently. Just every time he’s on the ball, he does like to always look for the longer pass; he looks short, and some players have the ability to see every pass without having to look short, look long; he can just see it all. And the quality he has, you see with the Mason [Mount] goal, it’s on a plate for him. He does that time and time again, to be fair.”
Ruben Amorim said: “We played well most of the time. We should have a different score in the end. I’m pleased with the second half that we understood we had another opportunity.”
Mason Mount said: “It was an important win. First half we let them back in it and we go into the changing room frustrated. It was down to us to finish our chances, so we’re happy with the second half.”
The victory propelled Manchester United into the top six, with 25 points from 15 matches, level with Chelsea and just one point behind Crystal Palace. The performance highlighted Fernandes’ influence on the team, as he continues to be a key figure in United’s midfield. His ability to orchestrate play and contribute to goals has been instrumental in the team’s recent success.
This win also reflects United’s resilience and ability to capitalize on opportunities, as emphasized by Ruben Amorim. The team’s performance in the second half demonstrated their determination to secure a positive result, despite a challenging first half. Mason Mount’s comments further underscore the significance of the victory, as United aims to maintain their momentum in the Premier League.
