Tottenham Hotspur’s dramatic late win over Everton had brought the North London club to just seven points from the leader’s Manchester United but their manager Ossie Ardiles admitted that the Red Devils already had a substantial lead. He did say though that it was still early days in the season and many sides had the chance to compete for the title.
Ardiles also praised his player Darren Anderton for his performances that season and said that it was a matter of time before he was called up for the national team.
Ossie Ardiles said “They still have a long way to go. – I’m on record as saying they look the best team in England at the moment, and they do have a nice lead at the top of the table, but it is early days, and several teams can still make a challenge including us. I’m sticking to what I’ve already said about us going full out to win every competition we play in. It is only a matter of time before Darren is picked for his country. He is playing exceptionally well. He relishes the new role we have given him, which allows him the freedom to go anywhere on the field and set up chances for himself and others.”
