Ian Wright believes Olivier Giroud is a “quality player” and that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is lucky to have him. Giroud made it five goals in his last six starts for the Blues with a header right on the stroke of half-time to hand Chelsea all three points. Giroud, a former Arsenal player hardly got any first-team minutes in the first half of the season and was on the brink of leaving Stamford Bridge in January but since then he has shown his true value on the field and his contributions have helped Chelsea big time in maintaining their top4 status. And Wright, speaking on Match of the Day on Wednesday night, believes Lampard is lucky to have a player like the Frenchman in his squad.
Ian Wright said “Listening to Frank speak about him, he’s been very professional, even when Frank was using Tammy, he got on with it, worked hard, trained hard and he’s come in and he’s been needed. He bullied Klose again, I saw him get the same treatment from Michail Antonio and he shouldn’t be beaten like that, but Giroud has got that, he’s very experienced and anything that gets in and around the box, he uses his body very, very well. He’s got quality, he’s got a fantastic pass and this is what he does, get across the near post and try to clip it in. He’s a top quality player and Frank is lucky to have him.”
