Former Everton and Manchester United player Wayne Rooney has showered praise on former teammate Idrissa Gueye – and claimed that the midfielder is good enough for Manchester United. Rooney played with Senegal international Gueye at Everton before he was sold to French giants Paris Saint-Germain last summer for up to £30million. Gueye, who has previously played for Aston Villa, has found minutes at a premium in Paris, such is the competition in Ligue 1 champions PSG’s midfield department. There have been speculations recently that Gueye could be on his way out of Paris with a number of clubs interested in him, which doesn’t surprise Wayne Rooney.
Wayne Rooney said “Everyone talks about Idrissa Gueye’s tackling and energy but what surprised me was his quality on the ball – he always looked to play it forward and to your feet, After a month playing with him I spoke to people at Manchester United saying he was good enough for them. I wasn’t shocked when Paris Saint-Germain signed him.”
