Bernardo Silva says Manchester City are still favourites for the Premier League title despite dropping points at Crystal Palace on Monday night. Reflecting on the game, Bernardo brought Liverpool up unprompted,
Bernardo Silva said: “It was a tough game, we played well. I thought we actually controlled well the game apart from one or two times we lost possession and they counter-attacked. They didn’t create much. We controlled possession, our counter-attacking. Unfortunately we couldn’t score. We should have scored, we didn’t. A very frustrating game. Still a long way to go, nine games to go. We’re still in a good position. It’s still better to be in our position than Liverpool and they still have to play in our stadium. It’s going to be exciting.”
Bernardo admitted he should ‘definitely’ have scored, as he also rued missed chances for Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte and others. However, he insisted City will always fight for every point in their remaining nine games, as he once again reflected on the title race.
Bernardo Silva said: “It’s a tough team. It’s never easy to play any away game in the Premier League. Teams are tough, well organised. Over the last years we felt how difficult it was to come to this stadium. A draw was disappointing. Still a long way to go. It’s always better to win than draw. We wanted to win, to have an advantage of six points to Liverpool with their game in hand. Four points, they play Arsenal, we rest to play Southampton in the FA Cup. Nine games to go, very difficult fixtures ahead of us. We’re going to be there, we’re going to fight as usual for the title.”
