Virgil van Dijk has claimed that Manchester City have the ‘title to lose’ after his Liverpool side let a two-goal lead slip in their 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah had put the Reds in the driving seat down in London but goals from Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic just before half time ensured the points were shared. Speaking to Sky Sports at full time,
Virgil Van Dijk said: “It is never difficult to believe [that Liverpool can catch Man City]. It is a big gap so they have the title maybe to lose at the moment but anything can happen still. Fortunately we have been there where we have had a gap, we were in front, and then we gave it away so anything is possible. We will focus on ourselves, Chelsea we will focus on themselves and we just have to get results, play good football and win games. It sounds pretty easy but it is tough as you have seen today.”
The result in the late Premier League kick-off leaves Manchester City 10 points clear of second place Chelsea and 11 points clear of third place Liverpool, however the Merseyside club have played a games less than the Citizens.
