After going on as a late substitute in the 3-3 draw at Anfield, Lamptey said: “It has been good. “We had a short time working to get the instructions but he has made clear what he expects us to do. “You could already see some of the ideas we have been trying to implement. “We just have to keep working hard on the training pitch and get the results we have been getting Lamptey was passed fit for action after Ghana took the precaution of keeping him out of a game against Nicaragua due to a knock. He had earlier made his senior international debut, coming off the bench against Brazil. Lamptey told The Argus: “I enjoyed my first camp there. It was a good group and everyone was really welcoming. “I knew a few of the boys before but everyone I didn’t, I got to know well and it’s a really good group. “The dancing was a nice bit of fun. “Just give the boys something to be happy and laugh about. “It was just the tradition we have to do and we took it our stride. “I’m glad we put a few smiles on people’s faces.” Albion players were anticipating an intense week of work as they prepare to host Tottenham on Saturday.
Graham Potter Brighton

#PLstories- Brighton manager Graham Potter admits Tariq Lamptey at best when attacking backline #BHAFC

Albion wingback Tariq Lamptey is at his best when “attacking the backline” according to Graham Potter. Lamptey has been praised by Brighton’s head coach for his open-minded approach in “helping the team” whatever position he plays. He is at his most dangerous when taking on defenders one-on-one. The former Chelsea youth player predominantly plays as a right wing back in a back five for Graham Potter. But the 21-year-old has played as a traditional right back in a back four, as well as more of a right winger with Joel Veltman sat covering him. Since returning from a nine month injury, Lamptey has been ever-present in Albion’s starting line-up. Although Potter did say he has managed the defender carefully to try and ensure he does not get a similar hamstring injury. Potter said: "It’s using his attributes as well as we can based on the game we want to play. Sometimes we have used him high up and sometimes he’s one of the highest up the pitch – I think of the Chelsea game where we’ve used him as a wing-back that’s very pushed on and attacking the backline. Tariq Lamptey against Chelsea in January - Picture by Liz Finlayson “Ultimately Tariq needs to be doing that, threatening the opposition defenders as much as he can. Sometimes he can do that from right-back or right wing-back or a little bit higher. “But the fact that he’s so open minded, that he’s so ready to help the team, it makes it easy for me. It’s about finding the right solution for him.” Albion host Liverpool tomorrow at 12.30pm.

The head coach expects his current group to remain in place when the January window closes. But he is happy to see his players attracting reported interest from elsewhere as they impress in the Premier League. Tottenham are the latest club reported to be keeping an eye on Tariq Lamptey as they look to strengthen under Antonio Conte. Potter revealed today there had been no bids received. He said: “We are not a selling club at all. “We don’t have to sell anybody but you never know in this world so you have to be a little bit aware of that. “I’d expect all of our players to be with us (in February). There is a lot of speculation out there but nothing to report. UPDATES FROM GRAHAM POTTER'S PRESS CONFERENCE “The fact that there is speculation out there means we are doing something quite well and, as a team and a club, we need to be okay with that type of speculation. It is what it is.”

#PLStories- Graham Potter will continue to take his time with Tariq Lamptey #BHAFC

ALBION boss Graham Potter will continue to tread carefully with Tariq Lamptey despite the youngster’s dynamic performances in the last two matches. Full-back Lamptey is still building up his strength and fitness a year after suffering a serious hamstring injury that sidelined him for nine months. The 21-year-old gave Leeds a torrid 75 minutes before being withdrawn in the 0-0 draw at the Amex last weekend and then climbed off the bench to set up Neal Maupay’s late equaliser in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham. Albion fans are hoping for Lamptey to get more minutes on the pitch, but Potter says the hectic December schedule means he cannot risk the Chelsea youth product from the start in every match. “We’re going through a period where we’re going to play lots of games in a short space of time so that’s the only thing that’s going to stop the regularity of Tariq,” said Potter. “We all know his qualities and what he brings to the team. It’s just the close proximity of games will challenge him and us in terms of how much he plays and when he plays.” Lamptey is likely to return to the starting line-up when Albion travel along the south coast to face Southampton on Saturday.
Adam Lallana

#PLStories- Albion’s Adam Lallana welcomes Tariq Lamptey on return from injury #BHAFC

ADAM Lallana has praised defender Tariq Lamptey after he made his Premier League return on Saturday. The right-back made his first Premier League outing since last December against Norwich as he entered the field as a second-half substitute for Joel Veltman. While he is not yet back to his best, it is good to see the promising defender back on the pitch. Adam Lallana congratulated Tariq Lamptey on making his return on Instagram. The 33-year-old said: "Buzzing to have Tariq back...one of life's good guys and some player. "Far from our best yesterday performance-wise, but will take the point. Some monster games coming up. We'll be ready. Lamptey replied to Lallana, he said: "Thank you bro, really appreciate it. Buzzing to be back." While Lamptey did not amaze on his return, he put in a very solid performance for the Seagulls. He completed 94.7 per cent of his passes, as well as playing one accurate cross and one accurate long ball. It was clear to see that the defender lacked some match fitness as he gave away two fouls in his 32-minute cameo. The 21-year-old will be hoping for more game time in the coming weeks, as Albion take on Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League as well as a League Cup match against Leicester City. It is Lamptey's second appearance this season after he got 45 minutes under his belt against Swansea City in the League Cup last month. Graham Potter will have to manage the defender's playing time, as to not cause any reoccurrence to the injury that kept him out for ten months.
Dan Burn

#PLStories- Dan Burn on Brighton clean sheet and Tariq Lamptey return #BHAFC

Dan Burn has welcomed back fit-again Tariq Lamptey – and praised the way Albion are looking after him. The right wing-back went on as sub in today’s 0-0 draw at Norwich. He enjoyed his first league minutes in ten months after an injury nightmare. Albion defender Burn said: “Great – it has been a tough time for Tariq, especially so early in his career so really happy for him. “I am glad the club are looking after him and not really throwing him in, putting too much pressure on him. “I think we saw how much the fans are buzzing about him when he came on. NORWICH 0 BRIGHTON 0 - HOW IT HAPPENED “I’m sure Tariq will just keep building and the sky is the limit for him. “He’s a great player and a great lad and I hope he kicks on.” NORWICH 0 BRIGHTON 0 - GRAHAM POTTER'S VIEW Burn produced some crucial challenges to secure the clean sheet when Norwich seemed to be in on goal. He said: “We could have won the game even though we didn’t play well. “That shows the confidence in the team and the way we are playing at the minute. “We didn’t play at our best but we still could have come away with a win. “We have two tough games coming up but a least it keeps the run going. “They obviously had the best chance with the open goal in the first half which Sargent missed. “And they had a couple of chances from our own mistakes, really. “But we are really good defensively. “The defensive options we have got are very good all over the park so I am happy for the lads to come away with a clean sheet.”

#PLStories- #GrahamPotter confirms #YvesBissouma and #TariqLamptey in squad for Crystal Palace match #BHAFC

Graham Potter has confirmed that Yves Bissouma will be in the matchday squad on Monday night match versus Crystal Palace. The Malian midfielder sustained a knee injury against Leicester but was “desperate” to continue, which he did with the blessing of Albion’s medical staff. Bissouma was withdrawn with ten minutes to go in place of Enock Mwepu as a precaution. Bissouma will be back in the squad on Monday. Albion boss Potter hinted before the Swansea match that he was hopeful that Bissouma would be involved against Palace and confirmed that the situation is the same today. He said: “Probably the same [situation] but we will see how he is and hopefully he can train on Saturday.” Meanwhile, Potter said that Pascal Gross and Tariq Lamptey will be back in the squad for Palace on Monday, but will be assessed over the weekend. Tariq Lamptey will also be in the squad on Monday. Seagulls’ boss said on Lamptey: “We’re delighted with his 45 minutes against Swansea last night and we’re delighted that he came through that well. He looked good and strong, but it’s another step for him [to be starting a PL game]. Potter added that Gross’ situation is different to Tariq Lamptey but said he came through last night with no problem. He said: “He’s somebody we will monitor over the next couple of days and then we will see how he is on Saturday and then work out what his involvement will be, but he will be back in the squad [for Palace]. Gross' free kick that smashed the bar. Potter said he will be in the squad for Monday too. Potter confirmed that Webster will not be back for Monday, with his return looking more likely after the international break. While Alexis MacAllister will train on Saturday after a “sore” knee to the back last night, and Mwepu will be given time to rest to see how his groin is.
