ENGLAND'S six Super League rebel clubs are set to pay out a combined £22million and have apologised to other Premier League clubs, it has been revealed. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham announced themselves as founder members of the competition on April 18, but had withdrawn within 72 hours amid fan protests and opposition from the Premier League, UEFA, FIFA and even the British Government. The clubs indicated their intention to remain in the Premier League, but their involvement in the Super League would have had a hugely negative competitive and commercial effect on the English top flight. Sky News reported the settlement on Wednesday afternoon and sources within one of the clubs have subsequently told PA that agreement has been reached, with clubs facing a £25million fine and 30-point deduction if there are further attempts to break away. The Premier League and the FA later released a statement confirming the news. “The six clubs involved in proposals to form a European Super League have today acknowledged once again that their actions were a mistake, and have reconfirmed their commitment to the Premier League and the future of the English game,” the statement began. “They have wholeheartedly apologised to their fans, fellow clubs, the Premier League and The FA. “As a gesture of goodwill, the clubs have collectively agreed to make a contribution of £22million which will go towards the good of the game, including new investment in support for fans, grassroots football and community programmes. “Furthermore, the clubs have agreed to support rule changes so that any similar actions in the future would lead to a 30-point deduction. Each of the six clubs, in that event, would also be subject to an additional £25 million fine. “The Premier League and The FA have worked closely together throughout this process and this agreement brings both investigations into the matter to a conclusion.”

Brighton defender Ben White could work his way into England’s 26-man squad for the Euros after Trent Alexander-Arnold withdrew from the squad through injury. The Liverpool full back limped off late on in the win over Austria on Wednesday night. England released a statement which said: "The Liverpool player sustained a thigh injury in the closing stages of Wednesday’s 1-0 win against Austria in Middlesbrough.  "A scan on Thursday confirmed the 22 year old will be unable to play in the forthcoming tournament so he's withdrawn from the England squad to return to his club for rehabilitation.  But Gareth Southgate has confirmed he will not name a replacement until after Sunday’s friendly against Romania. White is one of six players on England's standby list with him and Ben Godfrey being the only defenders on that list.

#PLStories- #JurgenKlopp gives first reaction after #IbrahimaKonate deal is confirmed #LFC

Klopp on Konate signing Jurgen Klopp is confident Ibrahima Konate has the quality to improve Liverpool and challange for a place in his side's starting line-up. The Reds boss told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m really pleased we’ve been able to add a player of Ibrahima’s quality to our squad and he is someone I’ve admired for a long time, ever since I first became aware of his potential when he was at Sochaux.“After the problems we had with injuries in the centre-half position last season, there’s no doubt it was clear it was an area of the team we needed to strengthen – but I first have to say that the job Nat, Rhys and Ozan did was incredible. Unbelievable really.“In Ibrahima we are signing a player who will add to the quality we already have here. His physical attributes are very impressive; he is quick, he is very strong and he is dominant in the air.“He comes to us after playing more than 90 times for Leipzig in the Bundesliga and European football. I’m sure that number would have been more but for some injury, but even so that means he already has experience of what it takes to compete in two outstandingly difficult competitions.“He also played for a team in the Champions League in high-pressure matches, who have a similar football vision to ourselves.“I am confident we are signing a player who can play for us right away, but he is a boy of 22 years of age who has room to improve because of his massive potential. I know that’s something he is eager to work on with us to become an even better player.“For me, that’s really exciting because I have seen how good he is already and I’m looking forward to working with him when he joins up with us in pre-season.”Klopp was in full recognition of Liverpool's achievement at full-time yesterday.
