"It is an honour for the other players to play with Adam and for the club to have in our team one player who is so good, so important and has so much experience. “He is a positive guy and a very important player for us. For now, he is unlucky with his injury but he will be important for us. “I don’t know if he will be able to play this season but for the importance inside the team, we lost an important player who is unique on the pitch. His quality is different to the other players in our squad but we can play in other ways.” Lallana against Norwich last season Lallana, who joined on a free nearly three years ago, had three goals and an assist in all competition for Albion. He enjoyed a good run of games in the number ten role before his injury in January. Lallana was full of praise for De Zerbi after signing his new contract. He said: "The faith he’s shown in me personally I don’t think I could do justice in words to be honest, but I’ll try.  “He is special, really special. I’ve been blessed to work with great managers in my career and this guy is right up there.  “He teaches, he inspires, he makes teams and individuals better. He’s the full package. When he said he wanted me to stay longer there was no way I could turn that down.” Adam Webster is confirmed to be in the squad for Brighton's fixture against Palace tomorrow night, while Tariq Lamptey will be assessed tomorrow.
Adam Lallana

#PLStories- Adam Lallana’s verdict on De Zerbi’s Brighton impact #BHAFC

Adam Lallana says he was blown away by Roberto De Zerbi’s tactical ideas. The Albion midfielder has been hailed as his teacher on the pitch by the head coach. But Lallana says he is learning a lot himself from the Italian on the training ground. Speaking to TalkSPORT he said: “He is very tactical on the training pitch. “There’s lot of phases of play in deep build-up, mid build-up and in the attacking third. Very structured “You’ve got to be disciplined in where he wants you and he gives you all the options. “It’s nothing that I’ve experienced before in my career in how he coaches. “He is very, very hands-on. “Before he came in, I thought I’d had a great experience with the managers I’ve worked for. “Then he enters the building and I’m blown away by his ideas and how he sees the game. “It’s another string to my bow in terms of experience and just keep learning. “It’s incredible to be 34 and still think you know nothing in the game.” Albion failed to win in De Zerbi’s first five games in charge but have now put together successive victories. Lallana said: “It was a tough first three or four weeks. “We didn’t win in the first five and I could just see it in his face. “It wasn’t his choice that Graham left. “It took a bit of time probably to get buy-in from every player because there were players who were used to doing things a bit differently under Graham and we were getting huge success doing it that way. “There was a bit of a transition period and we suffered with not winning in five games. “That can’t have been easy for Roberto coming to a new league, new language and not getting a win in five games. “I was extremely made up for him we got back-to-back wins because it took a little bit of pressure off.”
Graham Potter Brighton

#PLStories- Graham Potter confirms that Adam Lallana will miss Saints return with Brighton #BHAFC

GRAHAM Potter confirmed three of his Brighton players who started Wednesday night's draw at West Ham would be unavailable to face Saints due to injury. They include former Saint Adam Lallana. The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Saints before playing 265 times for the club, scoring 60 goals, as well as spending a spell as captain, before leaving to join Liverpool for a fee of £25million in 2014. But the 33-year-old will not return to the St Mary's pitch with the Seagulls for Saturday's Premier League contest (3pm). Lallana, as well as Adam Webster and Jeremy Sarmiento, were all forced off against the Hammers as Brighton battled back to earn a 1-1 draw thanks to Neal Maupay's stunning late equaliser. Boss Potter said: "He and the two Adams (Webster and Lallana) both suffered and they and Jeremy will certainly not be involved against Southampton. "They won't be available for the weekend. "Adam was a slight calf, Lallana his thigh, Jeremy his hamstring. "It was a bit of muscle bingo there, which is disappointing for us, but we've got a group and we've got a squad to adjust and adapt. "Clearly it's not the best to lose players."
Adam Lallana

#PLStories- Adam Lallana thanks Liverpool fans after 2-2 Brighton draw #BHAFC #LFC

Adam Lallana has highlighted the tactical switch which helped Albion produce an “outstanding” second half at Anfield. The former Liverpool man was applauded by home fans after he said a belated farewell following the 2-2 draw. Lallana played a major part in the contest as his pass sent Leandro Trossard in to equalise. He also spoke about the job he was given against his great mate Jordan Henderson at half-time with Albion 2-1 down. Lallana said: “At half-time we said to believe and second half was outstanding. Brave, getting on the ball, controlling the game. On another day we could have won. “We played the ball round the back and frustrated them. “We changed tactically and I went man to man on Hendo because he was controlling too much first half.  LEWIS DUNK PROUD TO HEAR BRIGHTON FANS AT ANFIELD “We were fantastic. Credit to the subs that came on. (Tariq) Lamptey showed great impact and (Alexis) Mac Allister controlled it at times.” Lallana started th game further forward than in recent outings as Yves Bissouma and Enock Mwepu came into the XI. He said: “When he (Mwepu) and Bissouma are in they have agility that others don't possess. “Biss was still finding his feet. He will be tired after that workout. “We have a great group and the manager refers to that. “I was lucky enough to win the title at Liverpool and you don't win it with 11. “You need 18 to 22 players. We are slowly building that. “It's been a tough week - City, Leicester and Liverpool - but we can take a lot of confidence.” Lallana applauded those home fans who remained after full-time and received a great ovation in return. He said: “Very humbled by it. I had an outstanding time here and was unfortunate to leave without saying goodbye properly so it’s nice to come back to a welcome like that.”

#PLStories- Albion’s Adam Lallana welcomes Tariq Lamptey on return from injury #BHAFC

ADAM Lallana has praised defender Tariq Lamptey after he made his Premier League return on Saturday. The right-back made his first Premier League outing since last December against Norwich as he entered the field as a second-half substitute for Joel Veltman. While he is not yet back to his best, it is good to see the promising defender back on the pitch. Adam Lallana congratulated Tariq Lamptey on making his return on Instagram. The 33-year-old said: "Buzzing to have Tariq back...one of life's good guys and some player. "Far from our best yesterday performance-wise, but will take the point. Some monster games coming up. We'll be ready. Lamptey replied to Lallana, he said: "Thank you bro, really appreciate it. Buzzing to be back." While Lamptey did not amaze on his return, he put in a very solid performance for the Seagulls. He completed 94.7 per cent of his passes, as well as playing one accurate cross and one accurate long ball. It was clear to see that the defender lacked some match fitness as he gave away two fouls in his 32-minute cameo. The 21-year-old will be hoping for more game time in the coming weeks, as Albion take on Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League as well as a League Cup match against Leicester City. It is Lamptey's second appearance this season after he got 45 minutes under his belt against Swansea City in the League Cup last month. Graham Potter will have to manage the defender's playing time, as to not cause any reoccurrence to the injury that kept him out for ten months.
James Ward Prowse

#PLStories- #JamesWardProwse on adapting to his role as Saints skipper #SAINTS

JAMES Ward-Prowse feels age is merely a number when it comes to captaincy, as he approaches the end of his first year in the role. At 26, Ward-Prowse is the second youngest captain in the Premier League, behind only Jack Grealish. The Saints academy graduate took the armband from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in June of last year, after the Dane announced his intention to leave the club. Since, Ward-Prowse has played every minute for Saints and will hope to be part of Gareth Southgate's final 26-man England squad, due to be announced tomorrow. Speaking to The Super 6 podcast, Adam Lallana admitted being named Saints captain at such a young age was something that took some getting used to. Under Nigel Adkins, Lallana skippered the side at just 24-years-old, during the club's first season back in the Premier League, in 2012. "I was 24, I was so naive. I was captain but I didn't know what captain material was," Lallana said. "I was just being myself. "It was a little bit of a weight on my shoulders. It took me a year or so to adapt because subconsciously I thought I needed to do more on the pitch when I was captain, whereas you don't need to do any more. "I feel you just need to be yourself and that's enough. "I was trying to do too much and I gradually learned to deal with it and just ignored the armband." Asked if he feels age matters when it comes to captaincy, Ward-Prowse said: "I think it’s got to go to the right character, for sure. I don't believe that age matters at all. "I think it can be a little bit daunting sometimes if you are young and you’re trying to speak to an older player about certain things because he’s more experienced and he might know a little bit more about you. "But I think as a leader you have to trust in your abilities to lead. "You’ve been put in that position for a reason and you have to take that responsibility with courage and enjoy the role." Ward-Prowse is competing with fellow midfielders Jordan Henderson, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Jude Bellingham for a spot in Southgate's Euro 2020 squad.
