Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady says the team will continue to play as a “compact and organised” unit after gaining a huge point against Chelsea at the weekend. Although it is not as entertaining, it is certainly effective, as Wolves have kept five clean sheets in that run as opposed to just two in the previous 11 games, including the goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. Coady says it’s “important” they “don’t go away from that”, suggesting Wolves will continue playing in this way despite the lack of goals scored.
Conor Coady said: “It’s always something we want to do. We don’t want to concede goals, it’s simple as that. We work a lot on our defending and we work a lot on being together, being compact and being organised, and it’s important we keep on doing that and don’t go away from that. Do we want to then go for the game a little bit more? Of course, we do. I think we’ve done that in spells, especially in the first-half. We made them change a bit in the first half-an-hour with how we were playing, because we’ve worked a lot on how we wanted to play since the Brighton game. I thought we that was pleasing, but we knew we were going to have to defend. They’re a world class team with world class players and it doesn’t matter who they’ve got out because they bring somebody else in who’s just as good. It’s a good point on the board and we’ll move forward now to Watford.”
