You defended well for the most part but the fine margins were going forward is a reminder of what it takes at this level?
The real quality at the end is a difference quite often, Man City are full of quality and good players. We’ve done lots of good things today. But when we got the chances to either know create a good opening or to maybe finish a good chance off we didn’t take it you don’t come to Man City and get loads of them but we did our best to make some.
How is Aaron Cresswell?
He is okay, his back is stuff after going into the goalpost. He was in a spasm really and couldn’t move his leg well at that point.
Your thoughts on Lanzini?
Manu is starting to find some pretty good form I’ve got to say, he came on and he played well against Aston Villa he’s getting a little bit more regular games and he looks in better condition. So I’m pleased for him. I thought he did okay today when he came on and obviously getting a goal is a bonus. But overall, he’s a really important part of the team and we’ll keep using him where we see the right time and the right place.
Are you worried about some of the form in attack?
Yes I am and I have told them we need them to be better in that area. I think we’ve had opportunities and I think when you get to the top end if you want to be at the top you have to have forward players who individually can beat people and can create goals and can make goals can be clean with the chances and I don’t think we have been in recent games. I think I can even go back to Europe, we won in Europe in midweek but I still thought in our attacking play we could have been much cleaner with our chances. It is something we need to work on but if you play Man City with the quality they have got in their individual talent and also their ability to beat you one v one or score means that you’ve got to take your opportunities when you get them.
Did you the game might get called off?
No, I didn’t because I thought that the referee did a good job and I thought that we all wanted the game to be played. I hoped that it helped us, I thought it might have affected Man City more than it would affect it us. But when they got the goal that was actually the worst of the snow and I thought if anything we lost concentration a little bit. I’ve got to say the visuals for the ball were quite difficult in that period of the game. But look, it was difficult conditions but I was happy to play the game.
What were you thoughts on starting Arthur Masuaku over Jarrod Bowen?
I think it’s the amount of crosses with Manchester City put in your box from both sides. I think it’s how you defend them. They overload both sides whether they’re crossing or whether they’re you on or whether they are crossing to the far side they are very, very good at it. They’re probably number one in the Premier League for that. So it was trying to make sure that we gave them getting into the box. I actually think that we did a really good job on that today. So that was the thought behind Arthur and also, it just gave us a little bit of left sided balance which I thought I needed today as well.
No De Bruyne, Foden or Grealish today but what problems did Cancelo cause?
I think Sterling and Mahrez played high and wide, City altered a little last year but have gone back to it now. It’s more than positions where Gundogan and Silva cause you problems and nothing would please me more than to wrestle more possession off them but there’s a lot of top talent and it’s taken a long time to build a team like that. So the job today was to try and make sure we were hard to play against but create chances to give us an opportunity to win the game. I thought we did that as much as we could. Yeah, they’re missing three really good players. We’re missing Angelo Ogbonna, who’s really important to us as well. So maybe in our terms we are missing a player who is vital for us as well.
