Timothy Castagne was picked out for praise by Brendan Rodgers for putting his recent injury to one side and showing full commitment for Leicester City’s fourth goal against Watford.
Brendan Rodgers said: “Ade gets the goal, but that all comes from Timothy. He responded well, he made the mistake, but then he goes into a 50-50 challenge, which for him, when you think of what he went through last summer, fracturing his skull, it’s full commitment. He wins the challenge, we then break away, then Barnesy shows his growth and development, where he could finish but he squares it, we get the fourth goal and that closes the game. Collectively, the front players looked dangerous and it was pleasing overall as a team.”
Castagne and his City team-mates remonstrated with referee Andy Madley after Dennis stole the ball for Watford’s second goal, appealing for a foul. But while it was checked by VAR, City did not get the decision, and Rodgers accepted that.
Brendan Rodgers said: “I haven’t seen it back, but the expert guys were looking at it, and deemed it not. That was the only issue for us in the game, we gave away a penalty from being in a good position, and then we needed to play forward, and didn’t, and we made the mistake. We responded really well.”
