Eddie Howe insists he will not shy away from trying to play attacking football as Newcastle United boss. That was the 43-year-old’s trademark at AFC Bournemouth and he is unwilling to drop it just because Newcastle are in a relegation battle in the Premier League. Howe’s first big test is a week on Saturday when Brentford come to Tyneside as Newcastle finally look to get a win on the board in the top-flight.
Eddie Howe said: “Ultimately I want to see the type of football that excites, and entertains people. I think that’s the type of football Newcastle supporters want. I will try to give them that while getting the results we need.”
Howe also named his new backroom line-up while confirming Graeme Jones will be part of his staff.
Eddie Howe said: “Coming with me are Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches, Simon Weatherstone and Dan Hodges. Graeme Jones is still in the mix and I’m delighted to work with Graeme. I think adding someone to my backroom team was something that I’d looked at and considered during my break and it’s something that I positively wanted to do. So having Graeme already here in situ and is someone I know, respect and really like, I think it’s going to be a perfect match for us.”
