Nuno Espirito Santo has said Tanguy Ndombele needs people to be “patient” and doesn’t believe fans have seen the best of him yet. His first match minutes for the Lilywhites this campaign came in the Europa Conference League against Rennes, where he played 79 minutes and had a decent first game back, albeit not being his best. At the end of September and after four successive starts for Spurs, captain Hugo Lloris gave his verdict on what Ndombele needs at Tottenham.

Hugo Lloris said: “Tanguy [Ndombele] needs games, games, games, repetition of games.”

Despite his positive performances, Espirito Santo revealed in his pre match press conference that in Tottenham’s next fixture, which is a Europa Conference League match against Vitesse on Thursday, the midfielder is one of the players who won’t be involved, along with his ten teammates who started against Newcastle. This is most likely to be because of the tough run of fixtures the Lilywhites have to come, including a London derby against West Ham on Sunday and a Carabao Cup game at Turf Moor on Tuesday. After the most recent win, against Steve Bruce’s former side, the Portuguese gave his verdict on his midfielder.

Nuno Espirito Santo said: “Since Tanguy committed himself to the club and to the team, he’s so talented. We have to be patient. He’s improving, he’s playing and doing his job well. We have to be patient because I believe that Tanguy has a lot to give to us.”
