Sporting Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl took time to pay tribute to match-winner Raul Jimenez following his side’s defeat to Wolves. The Mexican broke the deadlock with a wonderful strike after 61 minutes at St Mary’s. It was his first goal since returning to action after recovering from the fractured skull he suffered in a game at Arsenal last November. The goal – and what it meant – is one of the Premier League’s good news stories of the season so far, and even beaten boss Hasenhuttl couldn’t help feeling pleased for the popular striker.

Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “I think the last year, what he was going through, was absolutely hard. I think that it is very good for him – and you do not see him backing out of duels and tackles, he tried to push back. He deserved to score a goal today. We could not stop him the one time he did well and he doesn’t need many chances to score. We know that we have a few new players up front and to score a goal in the Premier League you need something special, at the moment we do not have that.”
